Chemistry Labs

Selected students from the gymnázium visited the chemistry labs of our partner gymnázium in Slaný, which has long cooperated with Czech Television on filming episodes of the show Zázraky přírody (Miracles of Nature). During the demonstration, a modern interactive touchscreen board was used, which our students found very exciting. Afterward, in the gymnázium's exceptionally well-equipped chemistry lab, students tried out several experiments, including making and igniting gunpowder — all directly under the supervision of the school's headmaster. Students also saw, for example, an interactive globe and a “sandbox” simulating various atmospheric and surface phenomena of Earth and other celestial bodies. Finally, the Slaný students prepared a group activity for our students focused on water supply. The event was a great success and once again followed the spirit of incorporating hands-on experience into teaching, this time in the field of natural sciences.
