The maturita examination has a common (state) part and a profile (school) part. For the 2026/2027 school year, you will find here the forms and topics of the profile examinations, the binding timetable and all documents for download.
In the common part, you take a didactic test in Czech language and literature and a second compulsory examination — a foreign language, or mathematics. The tests are evaluated by CERMAT. In the profile part, you will take Czech language and literature, and if you chose a foreign language in the common part, also a profile examination in that language, plus two further compulsory examinations from the school's offer. You may take no more than two optional profile examinations.
Czech language and literature and all foreign languages: a written paper and an oral examination weighted 40% and 60%; you must pass both parts. Mathematics, physics and chemistry: a written examination (mathematics 90 minutes, physics and chemistry 60 minutes) and an oral examination — both parts are assessed separately and you must pass both successfully. Biology and geography: an oral examination before the maturita examination board, 25 published topics, 15 minutes' preparation and a maximum of 15 minutes for the examination. History and basics of social sciences: a maturita project with a defence.
For the written paper in Czech language, the minimum length is 250 words and the duration is 110 minutes, including the choice of topic; for foreign languages it is 200 words and 60 minutes. Your own list of literary works contains 25 titles from the school list — you will find the criteria and the full list in the downloadable attachment below.
You choose your topic from the published offer by 15 October 2026. The headmistress will issue the specific assignment and appoint a supervisor no later than 15 January 2027. The main text is generally 15–25 standard pages excluding appendices, requires a consistent citation system and transparent disclosure of any substantial use of generative AI. You submit the project by 31 March 2027 in two bound copies and also in PDF. Preparation for the defence takes 10 minutes, the defence itself 20 minutes. For the 2027 maturita, the school requires individual work — joint projects by several students are not permitted.
The entire profile foreign language examination may be replaced by a recognised standardised language certificate — for English at least at level B2, for other languages at level B1. You may replace a compulsory examination in this way only if you are registered for at least four compulsory examinations in the profile part. Submit the application together with the certificate by 31 March 2027 for the spring period, or by 30 June 2027 for the autumn period. Common part: mathematical, physical and chemical tables for secondary schools, writing and drawing implements, a calculator without a graphics mode. Profile written examination: tables and a calculator without a graphics or programming mode.
Didactic test without aids; for the written paper in the common part, the Rules of Czech Orthography may be used. You write the profile written paper by hand in the school record sheet.
Didactic test without aids; for the written paper and oral examination, a dictionary without an appendix on written expression. For the profile written paper, you may use a printed translation dictionary.
You must successfully pass all compulsory examinations in both the profile (school) and common (state) parts. You complete the comprehensive examination in Czech and in a foreign language by passing all its component parts — the didactic test, the written paper and the oral examination. The results of optional examinations have no effect on whether you pass the maturita.
Resit examinations are held only for compulsory examinations; you have two resit attempts per subject (within five years of completing your studies at the latest). You only repeat the particular component examination you did not pass. You submit the application for a resit or substitute examination to the headmaster/headmistress generally by the end of June; the subject cannot be changed once you have registered.
Absence must be excused in writing to the headmaster/headmistress no later than three working days afterwards; the headmaster/headmistress decides whether to accept the excuse. If you do not submit an excuse or it is not accepted, the examination is counted as an unsuccessful attempt — for a compulsory examination, you then take a resit examination.
A transcript of results of the common-part didactic tests, a report on the results of the common part, and — once you have successfully passed all compulsory examinations in both parts — the maturita certificate.
Performance in the common part is shown on the results report in percentage points. On the maturita certificate, the results of all examinations — in both the common and profile parts — are given as grades.
Yes. If you have doubts about the correctness of a result or the conduct of an examination, you may submit a request for review. You also have the right to inspect your examination documentation — apply to the headmaster/headmistress for either.
Topics for both history and basics of social sciences are published in the downloadable attachments on this page. Choose your topic by 15 October 2026. If you do not choose a topic by the deadline, the matter is dealt with in accordance with the maturita regulations. The specific assignment, including the supervisor, submission deadline and assessment criteria, will be issued by the headmistress no later than 15 January 2027.
Yes, for a foreign language, and only as a replacement for the entire profile examination, not part of it. A compulsory examination may be replaced only if you are registered for at least four compulsory examinations in the profile part; this condition does not apply to an optional examination. The replacement does not apply to the common-part didactic test. The headmistress will inform you within 14 days of submitting the application whether it has been approved.
