Temelín Nuclear Power Plant in the Spirit of the Chernobyl Phenomenon

The Chernobyl miniseries became this year's phenomenon, so it's no surprise that students greeted the field trip to the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant with great enthusiasm.

After an introductory talk about safety, students were shown an interesting film on nuclear topics.

It explained to them the principles of how a nuclear power plant operates, the process of energy production, and other processes that take place at the plant.

The biggest highlight for students was walking past the shelter toward the cooling tower.

In the turbine hall, they got to know not only the turbine and generator but also other equipment.

There was also an explanation of the transformers and the plant's connection to the power grid.

They also learned about backup power sources in case of a plant outage or accident.

Students were very active on the field trip, adding plenty of curious questions along the way.
