The National Gallery hand in hand with art appreciation class

As part of art appreciation class, our students visited the largest collection of fine art in the Czech Republic. The aim was to broaden and round out students' overview of 19th- and 20th-century fine art. They got to know characteristic works of the relevant artistic movements (Cubism, Impressionism, Surrealism, and other modern forms of artistic expression).

This wasn't a classic guided tour, though. At the National Gallery, students had clearly defined tasks, which they completed actively and enthusiastically. The questions focused both on the general characteristics of the chosen art movements and on specific works. They were especially drawn to the search for the painting by Vincent van Gogh that the National Gallery rightly prides itself on.
