On 5 and 6 December 2024, students set off on an unforgettable two-day trip to the Austrian capital, Vienna. The journey began at 12:15, when students from the 2nd and 4th years set off by bus from Prague, heading to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, which enchanted us throughout our stay with its history, architecture and Christmas atmosphere. After arriving in Vienna, the students, together with their teachers, immediately went to visit the Baroque palace gardens and Belvedere Palace. This beautiful complex offered a unique view of Baroque architecture and fairy-tale gardens, which were truly enchanting in the run-up to Christmas. The second day began with a tour of the Austrian Parliament, one of the largest palaces in Vienna, home to the Federal Council and the National Council. The imposing building offered a fascinating look at Austrian politics and history. We continued our tour of the city and visited one of Austria's most significant monuments – the Gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom), which is a symbol of the city and an example of Gothic architecture. In the afternoon, the students went for a walk around Stephansplatz, the heart of Vienna, where they soaked up the magical atmosphere of the Christmas markets. The tour of Vienna continued with a visit to St. Peter's Church, from where the students walked along Kohlmarkt street and were also able to catch a glimpse of the Habsburg Hofburg. The Christmas markets, full of colourful stalls and gifts, drew us into the festive mood and allowed us to buy original gifts for our loved ones. After a demanding day, the students, together with their teachers, returned to Prague, arriving in the evening, full of impressions and unforgettable memories from Vienna.
This trip was a wonderful opportunity to discover the history, culture, and magical Christmas markets of Vienna. Participants took home unforgettable memories!
