Project Day: Student Self-Government Day!

Project Day: Student Self-Government Day!

Once again, our gymnázium is traditionally celebrating Teachers' Day, which in the Czech Republic falls on 28 March. This year, though, we're celebrating it in a somewhat less traditional way. For several years now, on this day, students have swapped roles with the teachers and school leadership. The Student Parliament selects a new headmistress, deputy head, or head of studies from among the students, putting them in charge of running the school for the day. An even more interesting part is the teaching itself, during which students try out the role of teacher all day, in every subject. Fully half of the school's students take an active part in the whole project, voluntarily becoming teachers or administrative staff for the day. Students get to try out not only teaching positions but also managerial ones. They face similar challenges to those their teachers deal with every day, and try to cope with stress and nerves. Judging by the atmosphere at school and the comments of the supervising (adult) teachers, this day is very interesting and the students prepare for it very well. We thank them for letting us take a break on this holiday, and we hope it brings them plenty of valuable experience and happy memories too.
