Slovanské gymnázium Visits the Slav Epic

Today, Monday 28 April, students of I.A, led by their class teacher – the school's headmistress

and students of III.D, led by their class teacher, added some variety to their lessons

with a joint visit to the newly opened exhibition devoted to the life and work of the world-

renowned painter Alfons Maria Mucha (1860-1939).

The exhibition is housed in the newly restored Sylva-Taroucca Palace on Na Příkopě street.

Because the Mucha Museum is literally next door to the Gymnázium, a foundation for cooperation between the two institutions has been laid.

Many thanks to the management of the Mucha Museum, namely Mr Jan Andrýsek.

Seeing the famous Art Nouveau posters of this native of Ivančice and the palace's high Baroque interiors,

built by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer,

was quite the high point to start the school week, and also a chance to broaden students' general cultural horizons.
