Can We Stop Global Migration with Development Aid?
The lecture will be given by Mgr. Ondřej Klípa, Ph.D., who works at the Department of Russian and East European Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University (FSV UK). It will involve a discussion and activities based on two videos that will be shown to the students. Together with the students, we will look at how global migration actually works, what influences it, and what current options exist for fighting poverty in the developing world.
Date and time of the lecture: 5 April 2022, starting at 1:45 p.m., the programme will last approximately 2 hours.
About the speaker:
Ondřej Klípa studied Slavonic Studies (specializing in Polish) and Ethnology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (Mgr.), and International Territorial Studies at the Institute of International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University (Bc., Ph.D.). He worked in the secretariats of the Government Council for National Minorities and the Government Council for Roma Minority Affairs at the Office of the Government, and at the Centre for Foreign Cooperation of the Archdiocesan Charity Prague. He currently works at People in Need. At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, and at the Anglo-American University, he teaches courses focused on migration, ethnic conflicts, ethnic and religious minorities, and social exclusion. He is a member of the editorial board of Migraceonline.cz.
