We were visited by the wonderful opera and musical singer Liana Sass. She has spent her whole life on opera and concert stages around the world, and we have staged operas together several times, with me directing her. I can confirm that this excellent singer and actress would live and breathe for the opera genre. So I made sure not to leave her out when introducing our students to the art of singing.

The last school day of the year, 17 December 2021, was marked by a spirit of multiculturalism at our school. In the afternoon, a meeting was held as part of the Open, Multicultural, Pro-Inclusive 1.SG project, on the theme of Multicultural Christmas. The aim of the meeting was to foster an inclusive climate at the school, to present the customs and traditions of the countries our students come from, and to develop students' mutual-understanding skills. Friday, 17 December, the last school day before Christmas, was spent in a spirit of fun at the gymnázium, with the morning devoted to the Christmas party.
Class 2.A's pre-Christmas PE lesson took place at the Na Františku ice rink, where students got to enjoy the wintry atmosphere of ice skating. The delighted expressions in the photos tell us they really did enjoy it together!
Class 1.C had a Christmas overnight stay from Friday, 10 December 2021 to Saturday, 11 December 2021. Staying the night at school together with the students were their class teacher and the PE teacher. The students sat together over Christmas treats, and got some exercise both in the gym and in the classroom using a virtual app. Chatting by candlelight about what the new year would bring had a magical atmosphere
On 8 December 2021, an activity presentation was held for the project Open, Multicultural, Pro-Inclusive 1.SG. The meeting focused on presenting the support and integration of students with a different mother tongue (OMJ) at our school. Its aim was to share experience and good practice, as well as to inform parents about the ways and forms of supporting these students. The presentation was followed by a discussion. We spent the first afternoon of December on a meeting as part of the project Open, Multicultural, Pro-Inclusive 1.SG. At the meeting, the project's activities to date were presented, particularly the international placements of our teachers, who this year visited The Benalmádena International College in Málaga and Kauriala Upper Secondary School in Finland as part of the project. St Nicholas was celebrated at our gymnázium too. Representatives of the student parliament, dressed up as St Nicholas, a few angels and devils, went round the classes handing out good cheer and a little something to nibble on. It's true that some students didn't escape having their faces smeared with charcoal, but in the end the devils didn't carry anyone off, and lessons carried on with everyone present.
