On 7 March, 1. Slovanské gymnázium welcomed children who had been forced to leave their homes because of the war in Ukraine. Under the auspices of the Děti Ukrajiny (Children of Ukraine) Foundation, the Ministry of Education and the Ukrainian embassy, single-class units are being set up across the Czech Republic to provide instruction in the children's native language, in line with the Ukrainian education system. We were visited by the wonderful opera and musical singer Liana Sass. She has spent her whole life on opera and concert stages around the world, and we have staged operas together several times, with me directing her. I can confirm that this excellent singer and actress would live and breathe for the opera genre. So I made sure not to leave her out when introducing our students to the art of singing.

The last school day of the year, 17 December 2021, was marked by a spirit of multiculturalism at our school. In the afternoon, a meeting was held as part of the Open, Multicultural, Pro-Inclusive 1.SG project, on the theme of Multicultural Christmas.
