Alongside Schola Pragensis, we're also keeping up with other activities. On Thursday, 28 November, we took part in Latin Day at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. This event presented Latin as a gateway to many scholarly fields and showed that studying Latin at secondary schools is a traditional discipline that contributes significantly to understanding our history. As part of the project “Support for the Implementation and Development of Socially Responsible Public Procurement,” the much-discussed topic of public procurement was addressed. Libor Rosenzweig took the floor. Students learned about the basics of public procurement, who counts as a public contracting authority, and what regime applies to a public contract. This will increase your chances of being admitted to the gymnázium. You'll master not only the math and Czech language tests, but also the general study skills test. You'll prepare for studying at a gymnázium and get to know how it works. You'll work with secondary school teachers and get an individual approach. How do our students measure up when it comes to reading literacy? How well did they understand the text, and could they answer the given questions? We'll find out once this testing is evaluated. We believe our students are reading literate.

In mid-November, we held our first open house of this school year. We're very pleased that so many people interested in our school came. The headmistress, Doc. As part of our biology classes, we visited an exciting escape game. The students split into teams and completed the assigned tasks within a time limit. The tasks thematically matched the material we had been covering on landscape spheres and the global problems affecting humankind. The students learned plenty of useful information and got to try working as a team.
In beautiful, sunny autumn weather, our students visited the Orlík hydroelectric power plant. As at Temelín, students were equipped with helmets. During the tour of the dam reservoir, a talk was given that also mentioned the impact of the 2002 floods. The Chernobyl miniseries became this year's phenomenon, so it's no surprise that students greeted the field trip to the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant with great enthusiasm. This unique multi-purpose space, a former factory, is a center for design, architecture, and lectures.
