As part of the thematic plan, in the 1st year we focus on technological trends and their overlap with various fields of human activity. A lecture by an expert from IBM gave students a comprehensive view of developments in the field of artificial intelligence, its uses, and an understanding of its impact. Mr Jan Louda used a “magic hat” to demonstrate to students a very simple principle behind the algorithms on which artificial intelligence is built, and
The headmistress announces the 2nd round of admissions for 17 May 2023 and 18 May 2023. Applications with the results of the didactic tests should be sent to the school's address, to the data mailbox, or submitted in person during 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the school secretariat. Applicants will be evaluated based on the following points: If we do not receive the results of the JPZ Cermat, we cannot accept the application! Additionally
On 19 April, Prague's high-school Russian-language elite gathered on the home turf of the Dušní Business Academy to compete in the Regional Round of the Russian Language Conversation Competition. The blue-and-white banner of 1. Slovanské gymnázium was carried by a student from class 3.A, and she certainly didn't return to Masná empty-handed… Congratulations on 3rd place, and thank you for
This outstanding linocut (relief print) by Miss Dianka Li from class 1.E was created as a variation on material covered in history class (devoted to ancient cultures in Crete and Greece). Students have the opportunity to develop their personal talents during history lessons through drawing, reading, preparing presentations, and open discussions with “their” teacher, and also
On their own initiative, on Wednesday 12 April, the students of the bilingual class 1.D decided to pitch in and paint their second home, room 101. We thank the whole class for their dedication and look forward to seeing what they come up with next!
Students in the 1st year, along with interested students from the 2nd and 3rd years, had the opportunity on 11 April to attend a talk as part of Information and Communication Technology classes titled The Influence of Technological Trends on Emotions. The discussion was led by Ing. Petr Beneš from the 6Dacademy organization; we would like to thank him very much for his time, as well as our teacher Ing. Laďka Volková for arranging
Under the guidance of teacher Ing. Kristýna Zelienková, on Tuesday, 4 April, this time class 3.B headed to the editorial office of Deník N, to discuss with the award-winning foreign correspondent Petra Procházková the geopolitical topics that had most recently arisen on the international scene. A talk with a personality of similar standing is often more valuable for curious students than hundreds of hours spent sitting in a classroom. Thank you
On Friday, 31 March 2023, a school field trip took place as part of History classes (the Middle Ages being the current topic), in the form of a thorough tour of the historical spaces of the Old Town Hall. The tour, arranged in good time by the teacher in cooperation with the town hall's staff (at a friendly admission price), allowed students to expand the information gained in school lessons with further, often unsuspected, dimensions. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, it was possible to hold a discussion on the topic
A pleasant Easter is wished most warmly by the management & administration of 1. Slovanské gymnázium ♥
What it's like to stand on the other side of the desk was something students across all year groups got to try out on Tuesday, 28 March, as part of Teachers' Day, which at our gymnázium is traditionally combined with Student Self-Government Day.
On 21 March 2023, the district round of the English language competition took place at SVČ Jednička in Prague. 1. Slovanské gymnázium was represented in category III.A by Veronika Dobos, the winner of the school round. The contest consisted of a written test, listening exercises, a short written task, and a speaking exam. Veronika managed to beat all 16 remaining participants and advanced to the regional round, which
The second half of the year is in full swing, and there's still a long way to go before grades are finalized, but at 1.SG we're already thinking ahead and putting together the group for this spring's biggest trip: Greece offers an ideal mix of discovery and natural beauty. We are accepting payments until Wednesday, 29 March. There are still a few places left, so grab your sunhat and sign
On Thursday, 23 March, the lecture hall hosted the Mock Maturita Exam. Fourth-year students thus got the chance to get a taste of the atmosphere and experience the course of the exam firsthand. Now it's all up to them.
From 2 to 6 March, students from across all year groups headed to the Austrian Alps to enjoy some proper skiing after years of various restrictions. Thanks go to the teaching supervisors, our driver, the excellent chef Klaus, and above all to all the participants!
The hardest part of winter is almost behind us, and we were here to help. Together with the NGO Friendship Prague, we prepared bags of food donated each week by various companies and other volunteers. Together we make sure that everyone, regardless of their history or problems, has something to eat and a way to keep warm.
